Jacob on the imp of music in the present scenario

Parliamentary secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control Jacob Zhimomi extending Tsungremong greetings on behalf of Nagaland chief minister, at the event organized by Diphupar ‘B’ Ao community Dimapur, to celebrate Ao music in aid of silver jubilee, at NEZCC stone garden, 3rd mile, Dimapur.
Jacob said that Nagas love music and have good taste for music and that the ears were receptive for good music.
He pointed out that Naga musician was at par with any European nation musician which was a gift from God right from “our” forefathers’ time. He mentioned that “music has been an integral part of one’s life and it influenced one’s life style”.
All the tribes and sub-tribes in the state have their own taste for music and have a common taste to produce, said Jacob. Jacob further said that it was not an easy matter to evolve “our” own music from traditional-modern to contemporary and truly appreciated the Naga Singing Ambassador for the feat.
He also encouraged them to incorporate the style and maintain the originality which “we” have and include/insert the indigenous tone which would be more active to the outside world.  He hoped that the younger generation would grow and lead in the traits and techniques. Music industry in Nagaland has grown into a profound level, Jacob enthused.
Therefore he encouraged the gathering to let music bring peace in Nagaland, to renew the brotherhood, socially, culturally so that all the tribes would go hand in hand making music as a medium for strengthening relationship.
Lamenting on the lack of trade and commerce, he said that though the state lacked trade and commerce, the Nagas were blessed with local produces, art and good musicians. Therefore he impressed the musicians and gathering that there was job security as long as one persisted in the music industry.
He asserted that government job alone could not give job security and encouraged that the per capita income in the field of arts, sports and music was much higher compared to people who were in the government jobs.
Citing an example, he mentioned that forefathers were very hard working but unfortunately most of “us” have forgotten the values of forefathers.
Though we are in the transformation phase of change, let us not drop everything to adapt to the contemporary lifestyle and forget the values installed to us by our forefathers, he added.  .
Taking about government job, he quoted that “No work is below standard” therefore Jacob encouraged the students to come out of the comfort zone and to start working with consistency in any sector, inculcating the values of hard work, persistency and success.
Various artistes enthralled the gathered crowd with different forms of musical performances.
