Minister for PHED & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi graced the inauguration programme of the second phase of Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela (TAEM) at Town Hall, Peren Town on Thursday. The TAeM was jointly organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd. (TRIFED) & MARCOFED LTD. under the scheme ‘’Marketing and logistics development for promoting tribal products from North Eastern Region (PTP NER)”.
According to a DIPR report, in his address, the minister said that under the leadership of prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, tribal artisans are able to earn respectable and dignified incomes. “Through platforms like TRIFED Ltd. and MARCOFED Ltd, not only are our tribal products reaching every nook and corner of the country but our rich cultural heritage is also being promoted”, stated the Zhimomi. He therefore called upon the local artisans to make use of such opportunities.
The minister said, “while the State government stands ready to offer assistance and help, the local artisans must also focus on quality products. In many ways, they’re the brand ambassadors of our culture”.
GM (PT-NER), TRIFED Delhi, Lt. Col. Sanyam Kashyap, in his short speech said the main purpose of TRIFED was to provide platform and strengthen the livelihood opportunities of tribal artisans of North Eastern Region. He also enlightened the gathering on the importance of empanelment and its benefits.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, Vineet Kumar, who welcomed the guests on behalf of the people of Peren district thanked the TRIFED & MARCOFED LTD. for providing opportunity for local artisans of Peren through this Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela.
The minister was accompanied by advisor Information and Technology and Communication, Economics and Statistics, Evaluation, H. Sethrongkyu Sangtam, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, MLA, and Er. Picto, MLA.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome note by MD MARCOFED LTD, R. Bendang Ao, while vote of thanks was proposed by JA, TRIFED NER, Abhijeet Dutta.
