Jain community Dimapur to construct road

Redefining the term ‘social responsibility’, Dimapur Jain community has shouldered the responsibility to take up a project worth around Rs.1 crore for construction of the street that falls under Jain road Dimapur.
The project budget will be borne by Dimapur Jain community while machineries will be provided by the Dimapur Municipal Council, informed Jain Samaj president Om Prakash Jain at a programme organised by the Jain community on Friday.
The road construction started on Saturday March 3.
Prakash informed that the community had in the past approached the State government for assistance. However, with no positive response from the government, the Jain community decided to take the responsibility into their own hands which, Jain said, would benefit the people living in the vicinity and Dimapurians in general.
With contributions from individuals of Jain community, Prakash said the community will not seek financial assistance from DMC department. The road will be constructed within three months time, assured Jain.
He also informed that CCTV cameras will be installed in the area.
After having struggled to get the project with no conclusion and taking the responsibility in their own hands, Jain remarked the community will continue to maintain the road.
DMC Administrator Atokhe Aye lauding the community for taking up this social responsibility cause, assured co-operation to the community.
The administrator remarked that communities should involve themselves for the city’s development.
He also expressed optimism that other community will follow suit and contribute towards Dimapur’s development.
