Jains celebrate Ananta Chaturdashi in Dmu

Digamber Jains of Dimapur celebrated the ‘Salvation Anniversary’ of 12th Lord Vasupujya Nath Tirthankara on September 28 on the day of ‘Ananta Chaturdashi’ with a procession surrounding Jain temple, Dimapur.


In a press note, SD Jain Samaj working president Yeshraj Pandya and general secretary Prakash Ajmera said that the event was the culmination of celebration of 10 Dharmas, which every Jain should imbibe as far as possible in this holy month of Bhadva in particular.


Peace Mantra were chanted by 105 Shri Gambhirmati Mataji after the procession at Mahavir Bhawan during the water showering of Tirthankara idol. Earlier, all the Jain families conducted aarati when the procession crossed their respective homes and shops.


It also said that four Jains in Dimapur held complete fasting for 16 days (water once a day), 13 Jains for 10 days and many more for five-three days for World Peace, besides hundreds of Jains fasting or limiting themselves in many ways for a day or more. It may be noted that 105 Garimamati Mataji and 105 Gambhirmati Mataji were stationed with other lady monks in Dimapur for the past five months.


The Samaj also said that fasting for 10 days and others smaller fasts will culminate on September 29, while 16-day fast will culminate on October 1 with Mahaparana and feast at S.D. Jain Hr. Sec. School/ Jain Bhawan.
