The 25th anniversary of Jakhama Village Day was celebrated at Jakhama local ground on the theme “Unite and move forward” on January 16.
Former Parliamentary Secretary, Zhaleo Rio, could not attend the programme as the chief guest and his message was read out by his PS Zasivi Meyase. In his message, he called upon the gathering to pray for the right leader who can lead our people, and stated that God choose the right/ correct leader at the right time.
He further stated that Naga society needs better understanding and oneness through forgiveness to one another in order to build a healthy society. He urged the youth to come forward with broad vision and contribute towards the welfare and betterment of the village in this competitive world.
Meyase also unveiled the jubilee monolith, unfurled the village flag and released the jubilee souvenir.
Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment Nagaland, N Zhasa, graced the function as the guest of honour. In his speech, he stressed on the need to maintain a sense of oneness and peaceful environment for all round development and called upon the gathering to sow the seeds of peace and oneness that will bear fruits for the coming generation.
The programme was chaired by Er. Toba Khatso, Convenor of Planning and
Organising Committee, while Rev. Zapovil Sophie, Pastor JBC, invoked God’s blessings. The welcome address was delivered by Medose Richa, chairman Jakhama Village Council Chairman, while jubilee theme song was presented by Nolvi Sophie and party and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nolesel
Zhotso, Secretary of Planning & Organising Committee. Folk song was presented by the cultural committee and Hallelujah song by the jubilee choir.
