Jalukie district creation proposal gets DPDB nod

Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held on December 7 at DC’s conference hall, Peren under the chairmanship of DC & vice-chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru approved the proposal for creation of Jalukie district, a DIPR report stated.


The meeting which was also attended by deputy chief minister, in-charge of Planning & Transformation and National Highways, T.R. Zeliang, also approved the proposal to update Peren district’s departmental profile; inclusion of valley villages namely New-Jalukie, Mhainamtsi and Lilen under DPDB pilot project for off-season crop. It also approved the proposal for construction of District Excise Office cum staff quarter and boundary wall at New District Hq. and construction of ARCS office building, fencing wall, retaining wall and office gate.


The house also agreed to recommend the proposal for registration of society, Luangdimai Bamdua. T.R. Zeliang while addressing the meeting called upon the officers to come back with new mind set and new vision to serve the district post New Year.

He also said, to translate this new district headquarter into a Model Township, is the dream of the people and in order to turn this dream into a reality, it needs collective efforts from every departments. Officials from DRDA & Water Resources department presented departmental activities through PowerPoint.
