Jalukie Town Gunners crowned champions of PDFA Women’s Football

DIMAPUR, SEP 6 (NPN)

Jalukie Town Gunners FC etched their name in history as the first-ever champions of the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) Women’s Football Cup, defeating Jalukie Town Galacticos FC with a commanding 4–0 victory in the final held at Turf Ground, Jalukie Town.
Organized by PDFA in collaboration with the Assam Rifles under the empowering theme “Her Game, Her Glory,” the three-day tournament showcased the rising talent and spirit of women’s football in the district.
The final saw a tightly contested first half, with both teams pressing for an early breakthrough. The deadlock was broken in the 35th minute when Nciepzeule of the Gunners found the net. The second half belonged entirely to the Gunners, with Charakungliu scoring twice in the 51st and 60th minutes, followed by a decisive goal from Thujovetsolu in the 65th minute to seal the win. Special guest ADC Peren, D. Robin, commended PDFA for promoting women’s sports, emphasizing the shift from traditional gender roles to equal representation in national and international arenas. He urged PDFA to make the tournament an annual event to nurture talent across the district.
OSD Sports, Department of Youth Resource and Sports, Roko Angami, congratulated the organizers and revealed his intent to scout players for the Nagaland team. He noted the growing prominence of women in football, referencing their recent success in the SAFF U17 championship. Guest of honour Brig. Mayank S. Jamwal, Commander of 6 Sector Assam Rifles, along with other dignitaries including Col. Mohit Kumar Bansal and Maj. Anupam Mishra, attended the valedictory ceremony and distributed prizes to the winners.
The closing programme featured special songs by Kenlumyile and GL Naga, invocation by Rev. Dr. Mongzeung Mpom, and speeches by PDFA president Raithu Newmai and general secretary Kengim Hegui.
