Jalukielo village, Jalukie under Peren district celebrated its 25th silver jubilee at its village ground on Friday. The celebration was graced by president Jalukie Valley Youth Organization (JVYO), Masangum Hiekha as special guest. Established in 1997, the village was recognized by the state government in 2005.
Speaking on the occasion, Masangum said that it was not an easy to establish a village as it needed collective decision of the inhabitants, unity and understanding.
He encouraged the villagers and the present leaders to remember the sacrifices and struggles of the pioneers as their blessings were needed in order to take the village towards development. Masangum also assured to take up extension of the village ground as requested by the village.
The special guest also unveiled the jubilee stone and the souvenir.
Earlier, a minute silence was observed to pay respect to those pioneers who had made sacrifices in establishing the village.
On the occasion, the names of those pioneers and leaders were also read out and honoured.
Short speech was presented by head GB Jalukielo village, Savezo Hoshi.
Indigenous folk songs were presented by Zeliang and Chakhesang tribes.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by VDB secretary, Pusayi Nienu and benediction by pastor CRC Jalukielo village, Vekuzo Kienu and the programme was chaired by chairman Jalukielo village council, Heizieying Mpom.
