Japu village, located under Mangkolemba sub-division of Mokokchung district, has undertaken the work to metal the approach road leading to the village with its own fund. A press release by Japu Senso Mungdang (JSM) president, Noklemba Longshir stated that the 2 km road, had never been black-topped and poor quality of the road had been a serious inconvenience to the villagers.
It further stated that metalling work is expected to be completed by the end of December and villagers were eagerly looking forward to this “New Year present”.
Earlier, in 2013, the segment of the road inside the village of approximately 2 km length was also metalled by the villagers with its own resources.
