Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya alumni association holds 6th alumni meet

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Alumni Association recently gathered at the Agri Expo for a milestone reunion, celebrating the enduring “Navodaya spirit” that has connected students across decades.
The 6th JNV Alumni Meet served as a powerful homecoming, honoring the institution’s history and the achievements of its former students.
The gathering was graced by a special guest Chibeni Ezung, district commandant, Home Guards and Civil Defence, SDRF, who urged students to remain disciplined, use their time wisely, and balance challenges effectively.
She also called on youth to give back to society through meaningful contributions and mentorship. Concluding her speech, she reminded the audience that “what we do today shapes our tomorrow.”
The guest speaker Etsibeni Ngullie, UMB MS India 4th Runner-Up 2025, educator, health and fitness coach and national sports physique athlete (IBBF) said that the institution played a transformative role in shaping young individuals by instilling discipline, resilience, and self-belief.
Highlighting the achievements of alumni across fields such as engineering, medicine, education, and public service, she noted that the institution’s greatest gift was the confidence to dream and succeed.
The formal session was concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by T. Mhonjan Kikon, convenor of the JNVCAA Dimapur Chapter and a member of the pioneer 1991 batch.
In a moving address, Kikon paid tribute to the “Pioneer Batches” of 1991 and 1992, who paved the way for future generations. He remarked that while decades may separate the graduates, the shared identity of being a “Navodayan” remains a lifelong bond.
The event opened with a soulful invocation by Zuchobeni Mozhui (Women pastor, Humtso Baptist Church), followed by a minute of silence observed in memory of departed souls.
Dr. Y. Nzanthung Humtsoe, convenor of the organising committee, delivered the welcome address, while T. Zuchanthung Lotha, president of JNVCAA, gave the presidential address, emphasizing the foundation of the alumni movement.
Lt Col.Longshibemo Odyuo also inspired the attendees with his journey and underscored the impact of the institution on him, he urged the gathering to stay relevant and upto date with current events and technologies.
The session featured a powerful trip down memory lane with the pledge led by Dr Chumthungo Humtsoe and the Navodaya Song led by Robert Tungoe. A special song by Chandeno Kikon and a presentation further enriched the programme.
Mr. N. Thungchio Lotha (senior pastor, LBC Chumoukedima) offered a prayer of blessings for the association, and the session officially closed with a benediction by Saben Kikon.
The event was seamlessly moderated by comperes N. Esther Humtsoe and Dr. Libenthung Yanthan.
Following the formal programme and a community lunch, the association transitioned into a Business Session to discuss future initiatives and the continued growth of the alumni network.
