JCC-Cabinet Sub-Committee talks fail; pen-down strike to continue

DIMAPUR, OCT 20 (NPN)

Talks between the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on IAS induction comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA and the Cabinet Sub-Committee ended in a deadlock on Monday after the meeting failed to yield any resolution, prompting the JCC to continue its ongoing pen-down strike until further notice.
In a circular issued by the JCC, it stated that the meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee was held on October 20 at 11 a.m. in the office chamber of the chief secretary to present their demands regarding the selection of non-SCS officers into the IAS.
According to JCC, the issue was “deliberated and debated at length,” but as the Cabinet Sub-Committee could not accede to their demands, it was decided that the matter would now be placed before the State Cabinet for its decision.
JCC stated that since the meeting resulted in no logical solution, all departments and service associations were informed that the ongoing pen-down strike would continue until further instructions or until the government meets their demands.
It further added that all earlier modalities and directives pertaining to the strike would remain in force.
State government on October 16 announced setting up of a cabinet sub-committee to look into the matter and hold deliberations with the service associations.
JCC is opposing government’s move to induct non-SCS officers into the IAS.
