JCF urges DMC to ensure regular garbage collection

DIMAPUR, OCT 14 (NPN): The Joint Council Forum (JCF) has urged the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to ensure regular garbage collection, alleging that sanitation services remain irregular despite residents paying the enhanced residential sanitary fee (RSF).
In a press release, the forum said irregular collection had led to waste accumulation, inconveniencing households and posing risks to public health and hygiene. JCF comprises Middle Point Council, Churches Colony Council, NST Colony Council, Nyamo Lotha Colony Council and Khermahal Area Council.
Describing sanitation as a fundamental civic service linked to public health, cleanliness and household dignity, JCF said it must be delivered regularly, transparently and with accountability.
The forum has urged the DMC to ensure timely and scheduled waste collection across all wards, strengthen on-ground monitoring to prevent service gaps and maintain clear communication with residents on collection schedules and corrective measures.
Acknowledging the challenges of managing civic services in a growing city, the forum expressed willingness to extend cooperation at the community level. JCF expressed confidence that DMC would treat the matter with urgency and take immediate steps to ensure efficient and reliable sanitation services.
