JD (U) questions govt on logic of SOPs for Churches, schools

Janata Dal (U) Nagaland has questioned the logic of the State government in permitting resumption of normal classes for students of only classes VI and above when on the other hand, the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the government allowed congregation of devotees in religious places up to 100% of the capacity of that building/place.

While considering the need to continue with the precautionary measures in view of the ongoing COVID-19 despite vaccination being underway, JD(U) through its media cell said it was flabbergasted to note the contradiction in the SOP of the government for educational institutions and religious places.
JD (U) termed it as hilarious that the State education authority had even gone to the extent of warning of appropriate action in case of violation of the SOP by any educational institution.
It said churches in Nagaland were attended by everyone irrespective of age and therefore to contend that children of classes V and below were more prone to COVID virus and so, barred from attending their classes was devoid of any sense, if such had been the reason for preventing the educational institutions for resumption of classes below V, the party pointed out.
JD (U) urged the controlling authority for COVID-19 to be more judicious while dealing with the issue of resumption of activities post-pandemic and relevant measures so as to ensure smooth passage to normal life.
