In the backdrop of only five of the numerous advisers of the state government managing to garner majority votes in their respective assembly constituencies (ACs) for the NDPP candidate, the Nagaland unit of Janata Dal (JD-U) has demadned the resignations of ministers and advisors on moral ground for thier poor performance.
Expressing disheartenment while minutely delving into the result sheet of the state’s lone Lok Sabha seat, JDU in a communiqué said that the score of 40 ACs showed that the NDPP candidate won only in 13 ACs, while the rest 27 constituencies went in favour of Indian National Congress (INC).
According to JD (U), what was more shameful was that only four, including the chief minister, of the cabinet ministers could win votes for the NDPP candidate in their respective constituencies, which it described as a very big shame.
Insisting that the chief minister recapitulate the results and take necessary actions on those responsible for the historically infamous defeat of a ruling government-sponsored candidate in the Lok Sabha election, the JD (U) also demanded that the rank and file of both NDPP and BJP resign on moral ground.
Further, the State JD(U) also appealed to Nagaland chief minister to implement coalition spirit in Nagaland as per the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) principle at the Centre, and accommodate legislators of the different political parties who were a part of the NDA at the Centre.
