Janata Dal (United) Nagaland Unit president and lone MLA, Ar. Jwenga Seb, has welcomed the merger of NDPP with NPF, describing it as a landmark development in Nagaland’s political journey. Terming the unification a transformative moment, Seb said it reinforces the collective commitment to lasting peace and progress in the region. He stated that the merger transcends political alignment and reflects a shared vision of unity that Nagaland urgently needs.
Recalling the legacy of Jayaprakash Narayan, Seb said his efforts laid the foundation for the ceasefire between the Naga people and mainland India. “Today, we build upon that legacy,” he added.
Seb noted that the consensus-driven governance model gains renewed momentum with the merger of Nagaland’s two major regional parties. Calling the opposition-less framework a bold experiment in collaborative politics, he said it is focused on delivering justice and closure to the Nagas. He said the merger creates an unparalleled regional coalition poised to accelerate the Indo-Naga political process.
As a member of the National Democratic Alliance and a stakeholder in the PDA government, JD(U) pledged full support to the unified front. Seb said the merger aligns with JD(U)’s mission of fostering stability through inclusive dialogue and people-centric governance.
“Unity is our strength. Together, NPF, BJP, JD(U), and supporting parties can transform Nagaland’s aspirations into reality- ushering in an era of prosperity, reconciliation, and enduring peace,” he said. Seb also appealed to the CSOs including TUN, CNTC, ENPO and others to unite under a single apex body to strengthen efforts toward a final and honourable resolution of the Naga political issue.
