Governor of Odisha Dr. S C Jamir said Thursday the greatest enemy of the people today was ‘jealousy’ and called for doing away with it and bringing change for the betterment of people.
Speaking as chief guest at the 36th Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mundang (OKM) at Mokokchung village, Dr. S.C. Jamir said the Aos were responsible in imparting Christianity and education to majority of the Nagas and so they must envision a clearer picture for the Nagas.
According to Dr. Jamir, this objective could be achieved by introspecting oneself for a positive change, being brave with a broader vision, leaving the past behind to plan for the future, using the right tool for right purpose at the right time, sweating to earn one’s own bread and by acknowledging that time and tide was equally associated with change.
Further, Odisha governor stated that the real change must start from the roots, in close co-operation with the youth of the day.
Dr.Jamir said the main culprit for corruption was the public, who, he said, openly sold their “constitutionally gifted votes” at the time of elections and “unfortunately” making the representatives go bankrupt. Dr. S.C. Jamir said Nagaland was ‘ill’ due to unwillingness to move forward with the tide and time. On the Naga national solution with India, he said Nagas must unite and make concerted efforts before the opportunity passed. He urged the people to be in the moving train instead of being stagnant. Dr. Jamir also gave away certificates to the 28 OKM ‘Achievers’.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by Ongpangkong Mungdang president and AKM president Jemtimenba. Special number by Meyinungsang, winner of Naga Orpheus 2013.
OKM conference, which begun January 14 evening at Mokokchung village, would conclude January 16 evening with Pfutsero govt college principal Dr. Watijungshi, advocate Supu Jamir and Dimapur govt college associate prof. L. Mefutiba as key speakers. MLA Merentoshi would grace the closing function as chief guest.
