Dimapur

The Jo Foundation Inclusive School (JFIS) Kohima celebrated its Parents Day-cum-Cultural Day at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, under the theme “Celebrating Tradition, Talent and Togetherness.” The event showcased a vibrant blend of cultural heritage and student talent, bringing together parents, educators and community leaders.
According to a DIPR report, secretary & chairperson of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) (Addl. Charge), Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, graced the occasion as the special invitee. In his address, he emphasized the profound responsibilities that come with parenthood and urged parents to spend quality time with their children, noting that lack of such engagement could adversely affect a child’s academic, social and emotional development.
Commending the students for their performances, Nsarangbe highlighted the richness of Nagaland’s cultural traditions as reflected in the colourful dances, songs and team presentations. He stressed the importance of preserving cultural identity through language and tradition, encouraging children to learn folk songs, dances, and understand their festivals to stay rooted in their heritage.
Touching upon the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Nsarangbe underscored the need for skill development alongside academic learning. He called on parents to reflect on their roles and collaborate for their children’s future, while advising students to cultivate life skills, effective communication, and continuous learning.
Deputy chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council, Khrielievi Chusi, also addressed the gathering on behalf of the parents. The welcome address was delivered by chairman and proprietor of JFIS Kohima, Daniel Thong Seb, while administrator Keyokhole Ltu Lcho proposed the vote of thanks. Headmistress Kupe-u Kupa compered the event. The celebration featured traditional songs, Naga indigenous games, folk dances, dramas, and choral performances by the students, enriching both children and parents with the diverse cultural heritage of the region.
