J&K Woman Cricketer, Brother Held in Mumbai Sextortion Case

Mumbai Police have arrested Farkhanda Khan, a 30-year-old woman cricketer associated with the J&K T-20 league, along with her brother Bazil Khan and associate Uddin Imtiyaz Wani, in connection with an alleged sextortion racket. The arrests followed a complaint by a 28-year-old businessman from Colaba, who claimed he was extorted after private chats with Farkhanda were used to threaten him. Investigations revealed he transferred over ₹63 lakh through multiple transactions between April 2024 and January 2026, with funds traced to accounts belonging to the accused and Farkhanda’s father.

Police said the accused threatened to release screenshots of explicit conversations and warned of dire consequences, forcing the complainant to pay. The trio were arrested from New Delhi and Srinagar, and an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act. Authorities are probing whether more victims were trapped and how the extorted money was used. The case highlights growing concerns over cyber-enabled extortion rackets and misuse of digital platforms for financial exploitation.
