Mokokchung, JUL 18 (NPN): The Jemtimenba Mollier Foundation (JMF) on Saturday organised the 12th edition of the Meritorious Award for excellence in Ao literature, conferring honours on five students who excelled in Ao at various examinations.
The awards were presented to students who secured top marks in Ao literature in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations, first position in the Arangtet (AT) examinations, and the subject topper at the college level.
The recipients of this year’s award included Imnokila Mollier (97%, Ao HSLC 2026, QMHSS), Sungjemtula (96%, Ao HSSLC 2026), Kilangnukshi (66.3%, AT Diploma Tenren 2026), Alisenla Ozukum (81.1%, AT Post Graduate Diploma Tenren 2026), and Temjenmenla Pongen (82.5%, FAC 2026).
Gracing the function as special guest, I. Zulu Imsong, chairman of Chuchuyimpang Village Council, lauded the initiative of JMF in recognising the importance of Ao language. He said the foundation’s efforts had provided much‑needed support in addressing challenges faced by the language and brought honour to the Ao community. He appreciated the tireless work of JMF members, describing their contribution as commendable, and congratulated the awardees while urging them to strive further.
Calling upon the Aos to nurture more “Jemtimenba Molliers” in the days ahead, he stressed that preserving the Ao language must remain a collective responsibility.
Earlier, Dr. Tali Imsong, president of JMF, delivered the welcome address, while the group Lenjeter presented a special song. The programme was chaired by Asapokla.
