Jalukie Namgo Baptist Nqwa (JNBN) celebrated its platinum jubilee Wednesday under the theme, “From me thy fruit is found” in a jubilant celebration marked by religious fervour and a sense of unity.
Addressing the congregation, Reverend Professor Elungkiebe Zeliang from the Academy of Integrated Christian Studies in Aizawl, Mizoram, acknowledged the contributions of late Pastor Zieluiheing, who played a pivotal role in introducing Christianity to the people of Jalukie in 1949.
Reflecting on the journey of the community, he highlighted the transformative power of Christianity, saying, “We are celebrating the fruits that our forefathers have strived for in Christianity and thereby relinquishing the practices they once followed.”
Rev Prof Zeliang also acknowledged the economic blessings that have been bestowed upon the Jalukie community and commended them for fostering an environment of inclusivity.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Jalukie for embracing individuals from different races and ethnic backgrounds, allowing a diverse population to thrive under the Jalukie banner.
Calling for continued unity for the glory of God, Rev Prof Zeliang encouraged the gathering to be thankful for the faithfulness and blessings bestowed upon them, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to achieve greater heights.
Stating that “a divided house does not stand,” he underlined the importance of unity in the pursuit of spiritual and communal goals.
The jubilee monolith and souvenir were unveiled by Rev. Ngimrai and ZBCC education secretary, Dr. Rampaukopoing Michui respectively. Special songs were presented by Lekie Baptist Church, Mipui Jalukie Namgo, Lamhai Dungki Baptist Church, and jubilee choir.
The programme was chaired by convenor of the platinum jubilee committee, Hanggau N Hau, invocation by Benreu Baptist Church Pastor Heiku Zieroying mbuing Lungalang, welcome note by Old Jalukie Sector ‘C’ Pastor Zieroying, words of appreciation by Jalukie Pumling Nko chairman, Kumui Nring, a prayer of blessing by Rev Kuzierang Thou, vote of thanks was delivered by secretary of the jubilee committee, Irui Kenn, and benediction by Zeme Baptist Church Kohima Pastor Rev Iringtie Kauring.
