The Annual Sports Meet 2026 of John Yesong Memorial School (JYMS), Phelungre, commenced on April 23 at the school campus with enthusiastic participation from students and staff.
The inaugural programme began with an invocation by Imkong, followed by a welcome address delivered by Rev. Fr. Marius Patton.
The event was graced by Major K. C. Babu as the special guest. A highlight of the programme was the disciplined and colourful march past by the four school houses, along with an oath-taking ceremony where participants pledged to uphold sportsmanship and fair play.
Cultural performances, including a dance presentation and a special appearance by LKG and UKG students, added vibrancy to the occasion and received appreciation from the audience.
In his address, Major Babu stressed the importance of sports in shaping discipline, teamwork, and character among students. He encouraged active participation, noting that sports instill lifelong values beyond competition.
The special guest also distributed stationery items and sweets to the students. Marking the formal opening, he declared the meet open by tossing a football into the air, drawing cheers from the gathering.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Chothrili, who expressed gratitude to the special guest, organisers, staff, and students.
