
A joint scientific advisory committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs) Dimapur, Peren, Wokha and Kiphire was conducted at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre on February 26.
A press release from senior scientist & head KVK Dimapur, Jyotish Barman stated that DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, as the special guest, suggested that the ICAR give more emphasis to research of locally consumed crops like king chilli, soyabean, bamboo shoots, kholar etc. He also asked the centre to conduct intelligent market surveys on market linkage of cash crops, and disseminate knowledge about artificial insemination and activities conducted by the ICAR, for the benefit of farmers.
A progress report for 2018-2019 was presented by senior scientists and heads of the respective KVKs. Welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. D. J. Rajkhowa joint director, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, also highlighted activities and achievements of ICAR Nagaland Centre.
Dr. N. Prakash director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Barapani chaired the program. He advised the KVK to go for participatory rural appraisal before taking up activities and to conduct baseline surveys every two years to review status of technologies that are being implemented. He also advised the KVKs to work together with line departments.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jyotish Barman, senior scientist and head KVK, Dimapur.
