Jotsoma Students’ Union (JSU) celebrated its platinum jubilee at centennial compound, Jotsoma, here, on Tuesday with Keneizhakho Nakhro, MLA, as special guest.
In his speech Keneizhakho said that realising the need to seriously pursue education, pioneers of the union formed the student community which further propelled the whole community to educate their children.
He said that these days, parents extended their support to their children to get an education and likewise, he said that students should also pay attention.
Keneizhakho observed that not in order for a person to be successful, he/she also needs to take due care of their health and give equal importance to their emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
He pointed out that the final result of education should not be focused only on acquiring government jobs but should equip a person to be able to be independent and self-reliant.
Since government jobs were oversaturated, he said that there were plans to implement certain measures to downsize it especially through multi-tasking where a person would be made to look after more than just one simple office work.
In this regard, he urged upon the parents to identify talents of their children and guide them to get skilled through job-oriented courses apart from conventional courses.
He also urged upon the students to streamline their area of interest and not waste their time pursuing a course which may not be help them in the future.
In this regard, the legislator advised the union to help its members identify their individual talents and guide them into becoming assets of the society.
