JPN bats for forest conservation

Jalukie Pumling Nko (JPN) held its 46th general meet-cum-election on July 31 at Old Jalukie village sector-A Mtei Ki where several vital agendas were discussed and adopted.

In a press release, JPN chairman Kumui Nring and general secretary Irangbui Hingleu informed that among other issues, the house discussed the vulnerability of Old Jalukie Community Conserved Area (CCA).

JPN said despite several efforts from nature lovers of the district, CCA remained vulnerable as unscrupulous miscreant continued to take advantage of the abundance of flora and fauna within the area.

JPN also reaffirmed its decision to uphold the ban imposed on collection of non-timber-forest-produce and other decorative items from CCA.

In this regard, the council has called upon the public, irrespective of community to come forward and support the conservation in every possible manner and capacities.

It also urged all citizens of the area to refrain from such illegal collection of forest produce and hunting of wildlife in the protected area.
