DIMAPUR: Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation (JPYO) has expressed concern over the slow progress and poor quality of work in the ongoing construction of roads under NH-129A (Package II) in the Jalukie area of Peren district.
According to the organisation, officials of JPYO during a recent inspection observed that drainage works within village areas remain incomplete in many stretches. It also stated that in places where drains have been constructed, the quality of workmanship was found to be unsatisfactory.
The organisation pointed out that several drains have been left open, resulting in blockages and waterlogging, which pose serious risks to commuters.
The road construction project is being undertaken by M/s AM Infrastructure Projects Pvt. Ltd. and M/s RN Infra Project (JV). JPYO alleged that shoulder filling with aggregate chips remains incomplete in many sections and has not been carried out as per the work order.
The organisation further noted that several roadside plantation saplings have withered and need replacement.
Despite multiple intimations, JPYO stated that the delay has raised concerns regarding the pace of execution and the seriousness of the contractors in completing the project on time.
In light of the issues, JPYO urged the contractors and all concerned authorities to improve the quality of work and expedite the remaining construction without further delay.
JPYO also stated that it would continue monitoring the project and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that the work is completed according to approved specifications without compromising public safety and community welfare.
