
Distribution of dustbins was undertaken by the Jakhama Students’ Union (JSU) in collaboration with sanitation committee at a programme held on August 6 at the Jakhama panchayat hall.
A press note by JSU president, Kelethuzo Yosa stated that the sanitation drive was conducted in view of the forth coming JSU golden jubilee. The convenor of JSU golden jubilee committee Zavishio Khieya stressed on the importance of “sanitation” by highlighting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was launched in the country by the Narendra Modi. He also reminded the villagers of their aim to bring up their village, Jakhama to be one of the cleanest village by 2030.
JSU stated that the co-convenor of JSU Golden jubilee committee Kezhokhoto Savi also said that sanitation was the maintenance of hygienic condition through services such as garbage collection and waste water disposal and sanitation is the basic and general principles for governing the dignity and healthy life by preventing hazards of waste and proper disposal of sewage.
