In the backdrop of an arrest of a person identified as Vilie alias Avilie Mere of Tsiesema Basa village, accused of raping a minor girl on July 9, organisations while lauding the investigating agencies for the arrest have demanded early justice.
ENWOKU: Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation, Kohima Unit (ENWOKU) urged the law enforcing authorities to expedite the case and award befitting punishment to the perpetrator of the crime, as per the law.
In a condemnation note, ENWOKU president, K. Yanon Konyak and general secretary, T. Rebecca Tikhir also urged the appropriate authorities to “adequately compensate the minor victim of the crime and provide her proper medical and mental rehabilitation during her traumatic period.”
Meanwhile, ENWOKU has also lauded the Women Cell North Police Station, Kohima for their relentless effort in apprehending the culprit and also appreciated the support and cooperation extended by the village authorities of Tsiesema, throughout the investigation process. ENWOKU has also thanked the Child Help Line, Kohima and Child Welfare Committee, Kohima for their yeoman service rendered to the minor victim.
YLAK: Yimkhiung Liberü Ariahako Kohima (YLAK) has appealed the concern law enforcing agency to punish the accused as per the appropriate relevant section of law.
In a statement, YLAK president, M Tansola and general secretary, Athsang also appealed the law enforcing agency not to entertain bail application in any manner but to punish the accused in a befitting manner to the “satisfaction of society”.
Meanwhile, YLAK has also appreciated those who have rendered their time and service for the justice especially the Police investigating Team, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Northern Angami Public Organisation, Northern Angami Woman Organisation, Northern Angami Woman Organisation Group C, The joint Village Councils of Tsiesema and Tsiesema Basa, Tssiesema village Students Union, Tsiesemiapfü Mechü Krotho, and all the collective organisations and individuals of Tseisema village and area, ENPUK, ENWO and various organisation under ENPOK collectively or individually, YUK, YSUK etc. for rendering tireless effort in arresting the accused. YLAK also appreciated the police investigating team for extending certain protection and safety measures for the victim and family.
YSUK: Yimkhiung Students’ Union Kohima (YSUK) while lauding the investigative authorities for the thorough, tireless investigation and intervention that led to the arrest of the accused, has urged the responsible authority to administer justice as soon as possible by imposing sufficient, non-bailable punishment on the accused in accordance with the applicable law.
In a statement, YSUK president, Runshito Lims and general secretary, W Dokhim have expressed gratitude to Tsiesema villagers for their cooperation throughout the entire investigation. It has thanked numerous unions affiliated with ENPUK, ENWO, NAPO and NAWO, YUK, YLAK and other individuals for their tireless efforts in assisting the investigation officials which helped in the capture of the culprit. The union also appreciated that the victim’s family received some additional protection and security owing to the police investigation team.
YUK: Yimkhiung Union Kohima (YUK) has lauded the law enforcing agency and investigating agency for cracking the case with unflinching ethos. YUK said that the crime committed was beyond human comprehension and such kind of “gruesome felony can be committed only by monster in the peak of his insanity”. It therefore appealed to the judicial system to try the culprit with non-bailable offence without any prejudice and ensure that justice be delivered at the earliest.
Further, YUK lauded DC Kohima, SP Kohima, NAPO, NAWO, NAYO, Councils of Tseisema Basa and Tseisema, ENPUK, ENWO, YLAK and YSUK for their unwavering support and selfless service during “trials and tribulations”.
Kohima College condemns: The principal, faculty, staff and students of Kohima College, Kohima have expressed deep shock over the unfortunate and despising act of rape committed by Vilie Mere, a student of BA 1st semester student of the college.
In a condemnation note, KCK principal, Dr. Vitsosie Vupru said the college condemned the heinous crime in the strongest manner and urged upon the law enforcing agencies to give exemplary punishment as per the provisions of law. Vupru informed that the accused has been expelled from the college with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, KCK extended heartfelt sympathy to the victim and the family and prayed that the Almighty God grant them the strength to overcome the darkest misfortune.
NASU: Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU) has strongly while condemning the “sadistic crime” has appealed to law enforcing authority to take severe action against the culprit as per the relevant laws and deliver justice.
The union also extended sympathy to the victim and the family members and prayed that Almighty God grant them strength to overcome the “darkest misfortune”.
