JVC warns govt of shutting down LHEP

Following the expiry of the seven-day deadline served on the Power department, the joint village council (JVC) of Moya and Salomi have warned of initiating legal action and shutting down of the 24 MW Likimro Hydro Electric Project (LHEP) power house for non-release of payment to NEC company.

In a joint statement, Moya village council chairman, K. Asang Yimchunger, Salomi village council chairman Korakmong Yimchunger and former Head GB of Moya village and former president YTC/advisor ENPO, M. Thsesong Yimchunger said the power department had ignored their plea to release the payment, which was already released by the Finance department in September 2020. The village councils warned that they should not be held responsible for any untoward incident.

They accused the Power department of resorting to an arm-twisting tactics by not releasing the dues to NEC Energy, which had successfully running the project successfully since 2006. They also reminded that LHEP was the only project running successfully in the State and earning revenue for the department, which needed day-to-day maintenance.
