Minister of Power, K.G. Kenye, graced the 14th biennial general conference of Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) as a special guest at Pholami village in Phek district on December 12.
The conference was held under the theme “Rising Above Challenges”.
Kenye in his speech, encouraged the youth to sharpen their minds and rededicate themselves to face upcoming challenges. He emphasized the importance of healthy competition for success in life and expressed confidence that God’s intervention would unite all Nagas. He also called for preservation of peace and unity to propel the community forward.
At the conference, greetings were extended by Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Veziihii Keyho and Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president Kesosul Christopher Ltu. CYF President Vezhodiiyi Nakro highlighted the organization’s founding in 1995 during times of political and social crisis, emphasizing its commitment to serve the community and the nation.
Kenye also released the amended CYF constitution, and the new team for CYF 2024-26 was announced by the CYF executive council nomination committee, Dr. Zokho Venuh. The new team will be led by Kevesa Khamo of Lozaphuhu village as president and Nokho Nyekha of Chesezu village as general secretary among the others.
Rev. Dr. Chekroveyi Cho-o, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council pronounced the act of blessing for the new team. On the occasion, CYF awarded the “Best Performing Biodiversity Conservation Award” to Kiitsapo village, while the “Best Piggery Farmer Award” was presented to outstanding individuals from various villages, including LhiwetsoWezah (Zapami), Vecusuyi Chuzho (Rihuba village), Thupupra Medeo (Khusomi), Pudusayi Dasai (Porba), and Thupuve Vero (Phek village).
