
Kacharis on Wednesday celebrated its premier festival Aai Sagi organized by Aai Sagi festival celebration committee under the aegis of Mech Kachari Public Organization (MKPO) at Purana bazaar ‘B’ village football ground, Dimapur.
The festival was graced by Kachari tribal council, Nagaland president, Ramesh Hasnu as chief guest and president NPF minority wing (central) Nagaland, Bishnu Bhattacharjee and former member DMC, Lipok Pongen as guest of honours.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Hasnu said people of Nagaland should focus to redefine the culture so that youth were prepared to face challenges as Nagaland strives hard to stabilize itself on many fronts.
He also called upon the Kacharis to move forward and embrace a culture that would create a unique cultural identity for the community.
Earlier, president NPF minority wing (central) Nagaland, Bishnu Bhattacharjee and former member DMC, Lipok Pongen encouraged and greeted the gathering.
Riots of colour and rhythm marked the celebration through display of energetic cultural dances by Bagurumba dance and special number was presented by finalist, Voice of Nagaland Season-2, Omot Mech. The festival was declared open with invocation by Dhunuram Mech, ex-hadungara, welcome address was delivered by advisor, MKPO C.K.Mech and vote of thanks by chairman ASFCC, Pulin Mech.
The festival also witnessed prize distribution of Aai Sagi volleyball-cum-athletics tournament held on January 10-11.
