Kaito, MPs and MLAs meet Governor

CLAIMS GOVERNOR NOT IN FAVOR OF ‘SUMMONING’ ASSEMBLY
All 22 members of NPF (Kaito group) including its legislature party leader G.Kaito Aye besides two MPs (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha), met Governor of Nagaland P.B.Acharya at Raj Bhavan Friday to submit a petition.
According to Imkong L. Imchen the group’s spokesperson, the petition stated that since “the cabinet headed by T.R.Zeliang has lost majority support and mandate of the NPF as well as the ruling DAN legislature parties” it cannot be “legally recognised anymore”.
On the decision of the T.R. Zeliang cabinet in recommending the assembly for a confidence motion, the petition maintained, that the Governor was not “compelled to summon or prorogue the assembly on the advice of the minority cabinet as per Article 174 of the constitution of India”. Further, the petition asserted, that under the given circumstances, the recommendation of such council of ministers is not sustainable to prevail over or guide and discharge of any constitutional duty”.
The spokesperson informed that the Governor said that the ongoing crisis “is an internal matter of the NPF party” which cannot be settled on the floor of the house but within the party and therefore “summoning of the assembly does not arise”.
Imkong L. Imchen said the Governor was also highlighted about the “serious charges of corruption and transferring of huge amounts of money in foreign banks by the chief minister Shri T.R.Zeliang and his wife and involvement of laundering black money”.
They demanded that the “minority chief minister” be removed and a popular government installed under G.Kaito Aye as he enjoyed “overwhelming majority of the MLAs of both NPF and DAN”.
Imchen also appealed to “colleagues who have been forcefully kept under closed confinement in Dr. Shürhozelie’s de Oriental Grande hotel, to come and join hands with the majority as our doors are always open”.
Further, Imkong L. Imchen said those unable to leave T.R. Zeliang and Dr.Shürhozelie “must obviously be involved in the multimillion dollar black money scam”.
The party expressed appreciation to the Governor for allowing an audience and for giving them a patient hearing.
