Kala-Utsav celebrated in Kiphire

The District Level Kala-Utsav competition, organized by the District Mission Authority Samagra Shiksha Kiphire, was held at EBRC Hall, Kiphire on August 28, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and artistic talents of students from across the district.
Speaking at the event, Assistant District Education Officer (ADEO), Lirila Sangtam, emphasized the importance of preserving Naga culture, stating that Nagaland’s identity is deeply rooted in its festivals, traditional attire, songs and dances. She urged students and educators alike to safeguard these cultural expressions, which she described as carriers of messages and values passed down through generations.
ADC, DMA Kiphire, Lichumse Sangtam, delivered the welcome address, encouraging participants to take pride in their heritage and contribute to its preservation through creative platforms like Kala-Utsav.
The day’s competitions featured a vibrant array of categories including 2D and 3D visual arts, traditional storytelling, regional and folk dances, vocal music, and traditional fire-making. The programme was chaired by Lichose Sangtam, Assistant Programmer, DMA Kiphire.
Students actively participated in the events, reflecting the spirit of cultural pride and artistic excellence that Kala-Utsav aims to promote across the state.
