KASU 48th annual conference underway at Hevishe Village

The two-day, 48th annual conference of Khaghaboto Area Students Union (KASU) got underway at Hevishe Village, under the theme “Breaking the Barriers”, with former Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) president, A Unoto Chishi, as special guest.


Addressing the gathering, Chishi encouraged the students to pursuit quality education and respect their parents and church leaders. He urged them to humility, hard work, and cautioned against studying merely for recognition, emphasizing the importance of aiming for excellence.


He also highlighted the competitive nature of society in the current generation and stressed the significance of prioritizing a connection with God for success in their endeavors.
Chishi further urged the students who go outside for work to return to their roots, investing their acquired knowledge in the village’s development and collaboration with the village elders and GBs.


He also advocated for annual general assembly’s to monitor student’s progress.
He further called on Churches, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Gaon Buras to actively support students, fostering collaboration and providing necessary resources.


Earlier, the programme was chaired by Yeshika Chophi and Litna Chishi, invocation by Women pastor, Sahoi Village Baptist Church, Kivikali N Awomi, and presidential speech by president, KASU, Kato A Yeptho.


Highlights of the programme included welcome song by Hevishe Village, Sumi traditional display by 17 units under KASU, exhortation by president, Western Sumi Students Union, Kabo G Zhimo, vote of thanks by Niuka Awomi and benediction by Children pastor, Zukihe Ghami, Holitoli Chishi. The conference will culminate on January 7.
