First mission convention of Kuzhami Baptist Churches Association (KBCA) was held at Pfütseromi Baptist Church (PBC), Phek with the theme, “Arise, Go – Lighting the Fire of Mission” from January 12 to 13.
A press release from KBCA Ethnic Mission chairman, pastor Neikko Mero stated that, India Missions Association (IMA) general secretary Rev. Dr. Wati Longkumer reminded the gathering of the historic pledge that was made at neighbouring Pfütsero town to send out 10,000 missionaries. He challenged each individual as well as the church to participate in fulfilling the pledge by being either one who Goes – being a missionary or one who Sends – supporting a missionary. He also painted the changing scenario of missions and being a missionary in the world today and challenged the gathering saying that “Nagas have a debt not only to God but also the pioneer missionaries who came to the Naga Hills.” Nagas can fulfill this debt by giving “our best” for God.
President of Serve India Ministries (SIM), Ebenezer Samuel who oversees over 8,000 pastors and their ministries all over India inspired the congregation to be part of the great work that God was doing in India. He tactfully shared the love of God and reminded the gathering that a Christian who does not tell others about Jesus needs to question themselves whether they are truly a disciple or a follower of Jesus.
Youth With a Mission (YWAM) team from Guwahati, led by missionary Adam challenged the gathering, particularly the young people through their testimonies and the Word of God. Adam challenged the present generation to fulfill the call of God to the previous generation to send out ten thousand missionaries.
Thang, lecturer, Naga Baptist Bible School (NBBS), Myanmar shared the achievements and the vision of NBBS which is the only Bible School in the entire Naga inhabited areas in Myanmar. NBBS presented a certificate of appreciation to KBCA Ethnic Mission for partnering with them and supporting them to achieve their dream of having a theological seminary by the year 2020. Hundreds of delegates from neighbouring Pfütsero town and Lekromi village as well as the Kuzhami churches of Kohima and Chumukedima attended the convention with much anticipation and excitement. Convention also saw the participation of KBCA leaders and pastors along with their church choirs, various bands and soloists singing and praising God.
