Khatkhati and Bokajan Transport Union (KBTU), which had on December 3, 2018 resolved to continue indefinite “chakka jam” after one of its members was abducted by unknown miscreants, has stated that the strike has been postponed due to onset of festival season and following assurance given by DC Dimapur and Commissioner of Police Dimapur. In a press release, KBTU convenor Khehuli Kibami said the union also decided to postpone the strike after the intervention of Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. KBTU also submitted a memorndum to DC and commissioner of police.
In the memorandum, the union demanded that illegal collections from the different organization be stopped; provide security to drivers, employees and staffs of the transporters; stop unauthorised collection of DMC on National Highway and stop illegal collection by the unauthorised unions or association. KBTU cautioned that failure to address the demands would compel the union to again initiate democratic form of protest.
