KCCI reaffirms APO’s ‘one govt, one tax’

DIMAPUR, SEP 26 (NPN): Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has reaffirmed the Angami Public Organisation’s (APO) 1993 “one government, one tax” resolution and called upon the traders and commercial establishments across Kohima to uphold the resolution.
KCCI through its media and publicity cell said the reaffirmation followed a consultative meeting with the APO on September 23, 2026 convened after the chamber submitted representations concerning the prevalence of multiple tax demands.
At the meeting, KCCI formally adopted the 1993 APO resolution, which resolved that no entity should pay tax within its jurisdiction. As the parent body representing trade and commerce across Kohima, the chamber called upon all its members, commercial establishments and traders to uphold the resolution.
KCCI directed the business community to follow the resolution across all commercial operations and markets. It warned that any business owner, shopkeeper or firm paying unauthorised taxes contrary to the “one government, one tax” resolution would do so at their own risk.
The chamber said it would neither intervene nor accept responsibility for actions taken contrary to the resolution.
Further, KCCI advised members facing force or coercion from tax collectors to direct the demanding parties to the APO office. It also sought cooperation from affiliated trade sections, market committees and commercial operators to maintain uniformity in implementing the directive.
