KDCA inducts new team for 2026–2029 tenure

DIMAPUR, JUN 3 (NPN): The Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) held its general body meeting-cum-handing and taking over programme on June 2 at The Guardian Hotel, Kohima, where a new team of office bearers was formally inducted for the tenure 2026–2029.
Outgoing president Menguvilie Sakhrie, in his address, expressed gratitude to office bearers, affiliated clubs, players and members for their unwavering support during his three-year tenure. Reflecting on the Association’s journey since June 2, 2023, he highlighted significant strides in reviving and strengthening district cricket through improved administration, infrastructure development, increased cricketing activities and transparent governance. He noted with pride that KDCA had emerged as a benchmark for cricket administration in Nagaland.
Sakhrie also emphasized the need for greater focus on grassroots cricket development, particularly in schools, colleges and age-group cricket, along with the promotion of women’s cricket. He urged the incoming leadership to build upon the foundation laid by the outgoing team.
During the programme, KDCA general secretary Keneilhouzo Sekhose presented the annual activity report for 2025–2026, while treasurer Vikuonyü Solo presented the financial statement for the tenure 2023–2026. Convenor of the KDCA search committee, Keviselhou Sekhose, submitted the Committee’s report and recommendations for the induction of new office bearers.
The new team will be led by Viketho Kechü as president. Other office bearers include vice president Menguzetuo Sachü, general secretary Keneilhouzo Sekhose, joint secretary Lhouvivor Sekhose, treasurer Vikuonyü Solo, property secretary Watimongba Jamir, information & publicity secretary Thejao Sekhose and women coordinators Dziesengunuo Solo and Mengusenuo Belho. The General Body unanimously accepted the recommendations and formally inducted the new team.
The meeting also deliberated on the draft Constitution prepared by the Constitution Drafting Committee, which was unanimously adopted and approved.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inducted team, president Viketho Kechü acknowledged the commendable work of the outgoing leadership and assured that the new team would work diligently to take KDCA to greater heights. He emphasized special focus on grassroots cricket development and women’s cricket while upholding transparency, accountability and good governance.
The programme was attended by members of the Apex Council, Sub-Committee members, representatives of the Players’ Association and officials from the four registered clubs affiliated to KDCA. The event was chaired by vice president Menguzetuo Sachü, with invocation pronounced by Vilhoubielie Solo, associate pastor of Baptist Revival Church, Kohima. The vote of thanks was proposed by Thejao Sekhose.
