In a bid to uphold fairness and equity within the transportation industry, the Kiphire District Commercial Vehicle Union (KDCVU) has reminded all stakeholders, including esteemed members, transport operators, drivers, and other concerned parties, to adhere to the fixed freight rate set by the district administration.
According to the official directive issued by the Kiphire Town Council, the district administration Kiphire, has set the freight rate at Rs.3.50 per kilogram for Long Platform Truck (LPT) carrying commercial/ essential commodities from Dimapur to Kiphire.
In this connection, KDCVU media and press secretary informed that the decision was carefully considered after taking into account on several factors, including fuel prices, considerable distance between the two locations, operation cost and maintenance expenses of the vehicles. Therefore, it informed all the esteemed members, as well as all transport operators, drivers, and stakeholders to strictly adhere to the fixed freight rate and cautioned that any commercial vehicle found not complying with the rate specified would be subjected to penalties imposed by the KDCVU.
The release further informed that in the interest of ensuring strict adherence to the prescribed rate, a dedicated committee have been constituted to monitor every truck and vehicle plying on Dimapur to Kiphire route to ensure compliance with the aforementioned order. The union sought cooperation of all its members and transport community at large in maintaining a fair and equitable transportation system.
