DIMAPUR: As part of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) common action plan, the Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) conducted an awareness programme on NALSA (MANO NYAY) 2024 and NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme 2024 at Government Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu, on August 18.
According to a press release, Panel Lawyer KDLSA, Berta Tep, spoke on the Child Friendly Scheme 2024, highlighting provisions under the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Marriage, Cyber Laws, Right to Education, and Child Helpline services.
She emphasized the legal protections and support available for children, along with mechanisms for reporting abuse and violations.
Later, Panel Lawyer KDLSA, Kusalu Lohe, spoke on NALSA (MANO NYAY) 2024, which seeks to provide legal services to persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities.
She highlighted the rights and services available under the MANO NYAY/LSUM unit for individuals requiring legal assistance and support.
The programme was attended by around 150 students and teachers, along with three panel lawyers and one PLV.
