Kohima District Taekwondo Association (KDTA) hosted a felicitation ceremony at Zesta taekwondo academy New Market, on September 13 to honor master Theja Keretsü and Moon Thapa for their exceptional achievements in the global Taekwondo community.
The two masters successfully completed the rigorous 3rd International Taekwondo Masters Qualifying Course and the 3rd Taekwondo Poom Dan Examiner Course, both conducted by the Kukkiwon—the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. These certifications represent the highest level of technical mastery and official accreditation within the sport.
In a keynote address, former KDTA president Keduoneiu Sachu congratulated the masters, heralding their accomplishment as a historic first for Nagaland. “This is a significant milestone not just for them, but for our entire state,” he stated. He encouraged them to impart their advanced knowledge and latest techniques to students, fostering the growth of the sport and inspiring the Naga youth.
Theja Keretsü and Moon Thapa, both 49, reflected on their journeys, emphasizing that the core tenets of Taekwondo—patience, hard work, perseverance, and the fear of God—were fundamental to their success. They expressed profound gratitude to president of the Nagaland Taekwondo Association, Pele Khezhiefor for his unwavering support in sustaining and promoting the sport in the region.
The programme was chaired by KDTA general secretary, Diezekhonuo and invocation by youth member, SBCK, Inaka Assumi. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by KDTA vice president, Menuosetuo Yiese.
