Keneiseto Kire emerges as 52nd Chakhroma wrestling champion

Keneiseto Kire emerged as the champion of the 52nd Chakhroma Wrestling Meet 2024 held at Medziphema Town on Friday.
Visato Niphi secured the second position, the third spot was bagged by Vikemetoho Zecho and the fourth position was Keneivilie Meyase.
The occasion was graced by senior vice president, NDPP Central, Charlie Sekhose, as the special guest. He emphasized on the uniqueness of Naga wrestling as an ancestral sport among the Tenyimias, where the winner of a bout will often wish his downed opponent saying he ‘played well’.


Sekhose also emphasized on the sport gaining global popularity in recent times, with wrestlers from other states and different countries coming to Nagaland to contest in Naga wrestling tournaments. Noting the growing popularity of the sport, he encouraged the youngsters to contribute in developing the sport further.


The closing ceremony was graced by president Chakhroma Public Organisation, Zhato Kimho, as the guest of honour. The event organised by Chakhroma Youth Organisation was orchestrated by general secretary CYO Visielhoulie Kuotsu. The invocation was offered by pastor CRCMT Seyievikho Sothu, presidential address was delivered by president CYO Seyieneilhou Keyho, special number by Vimeno Dolie and oath taking was administered by wrestling secretary CYO Rokolasie Kimho.
