Kenguruse Trophy: Lüshe FC, Headhunters FC storm into next round

Lüshe FC and Headhunters FC registered emphatic victories in their respective matches on Thursday at the ongoing 9th edition of Capt. N. Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament, held at IG Stadium, Kohima.
In the first match of the day, Lüshe FC delivered a dominant performance to defeat Auyang FC 6–0, showcasing a blend of attacking flair and tactical discipline. Controlling 58.76% of possession, Lüshe FC dictated the tempo from the outset. Tohika opened the scoring in the 11th minute, followed by a hat-trick from Thulunso in the 28th, 40+3rd, and 52nd minutes — marking the first hat-trick of the tournament. Shovelo and Eneibe added to the tally in the 73rd and 78th minutes respectively, sealing a comprehensive win.
Despite Auyang FC managing 10 shots on target, they were unable to convert, thanks to Lüshe FC’s resolute defending and sharp goalkeeping. Both teams registered five shots off target, but Lüshe’s clinical finishing proved decisive. The match remained largely disciplined, with Auyang FC receiving a single yellow card. In the second fixture, Headhunters FC produced a record-breaking 14–0 victory over Detroit FC, asserting their dominance with 81.47% possession and relentless attacking pressure. Manton opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, setting the tone for an overwhelming display. Laiwang emerged as the standout performer, netting eight goals in the 8th, 17th, 36th, 38th, 50th, 69th, 79th, and 80+1st minutes — making him the tournament’s highest goal scorer so far. Additional goals came from Chingsha (61’, 74’), Haotingmang (71’), Zarenthung (72’), and Visakho (76’), highlighting the team’s depth and cohesion. Detroit FC struggled to respond, managing only one shot on target and 18.53% possession. Headhunters FC recorded 23 shots on target, 11 off target and 11 corners, while maintaining discipline with just two fouls.
With these commanding wins, both Lüshe FC and Headhunters FC have firmly positioned themselves as strong contenders in the tournament, combining teamwork, precision and individual brilliance.
