DIMAPUR: Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, attended a consultative meeting of the Labour Society (Rhimoru Arih‑Ako Welfare Society) under Shamator district.
Addressing the gathering, Keoshu acknowledged the challenges faced by the labour community and stressed the need to bring change in the district. He said every labourer is also a grassroots worker and highlighted key features of labour schemes and benefits available for registered labourers. He added that labour unions play a vital role in the growth of society.
To support the labour society, the advisor handed over a vehicle (gypsy) for official use to ease hardships faced by members, noting that Shamator district does not have a labour office and has to depend on Tuensang for related works.
The advisor’s contribution was termed significant for the labour society of Shamator. With training and skill development courses imparted to local labourers, a visible change has been observed as more locals are now engaged in work compared to labourers from neighbouring states.
