DIMAPUR: District Planning and Development Boards (DPDB) of Wokha, Phek and Meluri convened their September meetings, deliberating on developmental agendas, welfare initiatives and preparations for the upcoming Reform Utsav 2026.
At Wokha, advisor and DPDB chairman Mhathung Yanthan chaired the meeting, with DC and vice chairman K. Mhathung Tsanglao co chairing. Social Welfare Secretary, Limawapang Jamir, sought active interventions from departments and tribal bodies for successful implementation of Reform Utsav, scheduled from October to December.
A presentation outlined its objectives of strengthening welfare delivery, promoting inclusivity and ensuring outreach to marginalised communities.
The meeting also deliberated on creation of a District Sports Fund and witnessed the launch of a toll free wildlife helpline (1800 202 0878) by DFO Suman Shivashankar under the Forest & Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya Project. Presentations were made by the Land Resources Department and Mount Tiyi College, which proposed introduction of a Science stream. DAPCU presented the HIV and AIDS status in the district. Members also visited Fernbrook School and interacted with faculty and students.
At Phek, the DPDB chaired by DC Rhosietho Nguori discussed agendas including Grant in Aid for Spero School, Thenyizu; proposals for new Veterinary Health Centres at Phusachuda, Rihuba and Losami villages; and upgradation of PHC Chethepa to CHC. The house agreed to recommend the matters to government.
The Board also discussed the Inter Department Sports Tournament tentatively scheduled for October, with ADC Thejakhrienuo Nisa appointed convener. Advisor for CAWD & Taxes Kudecho Khamo addressed the house, highlighting achievements in Eastern Nagaland under Article 371(A). Presentations were also made by SBI and NSCB Ltd on public benefit schemes.
At Meluri, the DPDB meeting chaired by advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe reviewed poor conditions of the national Highway connecting Meluri–Akash Bridge and Chakhabama–Kikrüma, with assurance that the matter would be taken up with NHIDCL. EAC Zuchibemo Ezung briefed members on Reform Utsav, scheduled to commence on October 2, stressing public awareness and participation. DC Phuleshe K. Yepthomi urged departmental cooperation for effective implementation.
All three DPDBs underscored the importance of Reform Utsav 2026 as a citizen driven platform to strengthen governance, welfare delivery and community participation.
