Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) councillor Thenusou Sekhose Yhome on Tuesday inaugurated a series of key developmental projects in D Block, Ward No. 6, aimed at improving basic infrastructure and civic amenities in the area.
The newly completed projects include a drinking water facility comprising a ring well and a storage tank to benefit around 100 households, a footpath and footbridge near GPS Lower D Block, and an improved footpath with railings and paver blocks from Razhü Point to D Block Gurudwara.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural programme, councillor Thenusou acknowledged the support extended by the Urban Development Department and the Municipal Affairs Department, under the 15th Finance Commission and Urban Development Maintenance Fund. She expressed appreciation for the quality of work executed and commended the residents for their commitment to future maintenance of the completed facilities.
Underscoring the importance of community participation, Thenusou urged residents to take collective responsibility in operating and maintaining public infrastructure.
She also called for continued cooperation from all sections of society to enable further development in the ward. Following the inauguration, the councillor, accompanied by members of the D Block Panchayat, youth and women’s organisations, undertook an inspection of other developmental works carried out during her one-year tenure. These included drainage repair and restoration in Sectors A and B, a separate drinking water facility in Sector C, rejuvenation of water bodies and installation of segregated wet and dry waste bins with soak pits in Sector D, as well as footpath repairs in Sectors B and D.
Chairman of the D Block Panchayat, Kevi Vizo, who chaired the programme, lauded councillor Thenusou for her dedication and sincerity in executing multiple essential projects across the colony.
The programme was attended by community leaders, residents, and officials from various stakeholders involved in the development projects.
