Nagaland’s CAWD & Taxes advisor Kudecho Khamo on Thursday distributed machines to honey farmers at Phusachodu village under Phek district.
The machines were provided by Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) under Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY), also known as the Van Dhan scheme, aims to improve the socio-economic status of tribal communities by enhancing their livelihoods through the sustainable use of forest resources.
It focuses on value addition to Minor Forest Produce (MFP) and skill development to transform tribal gatherers into entrepreneurs.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo thanked NBHM for providing such machines to the honey farmers in the village and hoped that it would go a long way in enhancing the entrepreneurial activities.
He looks forward continuous support and assistance from NBHM to boost the rural economy.
Later, in his address at the Phusachodumi Farmers’ meet, Khamo stressed on the need to adopt a comprehensive farming policy to ensure sustainable growth, food security and farmer prosperity.
The farmers’ meet discussed on farming, finance, subsidies and marketing of Coffee, Kiwi, Persimmon, Cardamom, Banana, Tomato and also livestock farming.
Deputy Team Leader NBHM, Er. Khuvoyi Vese, also addressed the meeting.
The programme was chaired by VDB secretary, Chekrotso Chuzho, while welcome address was delivered by Phusachodu Village Council chairman Velapa Theluo.
