Khamo exhorts youths to be agents of change

DIMAPUR: Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Saturday called upon students and youths to actively contribute towards building a society that is just, peaceful and progressive with courage and integrity.
He was speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of Chakhesang Students’ Union Guwahati (CSUG) held at NEZCC Shilpgram, Panjabari, Guwahati.
Urging the CSUG community to celebrate the silver jubilee with gratitude to God, Khamo encouraged members to reaffirm their commitment to unity, integrity and discipline, and uphold the principles and values of the organisation.
Paying tribute to pioneers and former leaders of the union for their dedication and sacrifices, Khamo reiterated the theme “Rooted in our shared Unity and Strive beyond Academic Excellence.” He urged students to look beyond personal ambitions and participate actively in building a better society.
Highlighting the competitive nature of the modern world, he said every field—education, employment, farming and entrepreneurship—demands dedication, perseverance and hard work.
He reminded students that academic degrees hold little meaning without competence, and encouraged them to build their lives on strong values, with the Bible as foundation, prayer as strength and integrity as beauty.
Expressing concern over challenges faced by the younger generation, Khamo observed that impatience, depression and frustration were becoming common, while entertainment and excessive dependence on internet and social media were replacing serious learning and deep thinking.
He lamented that cultural and intellectual values were not being adequately passed on, stressing that culture included not only songs, dances and attire but also thinking, behaviour, faith and work culture.
Calling on students to return home prepared to contribute positively, Khamo urged them to become agents of change in their homes, villages, churches, institutions and the economy.
He encouraged them to take advantage of opportunities in Guwahati, prepare for competition, explore entrepreneurship and set good examples as Chakhesangs, Nagas and Christians.
Neichute Doulo, CEO of The Entrepreneurs Associates, attended the programme as the guest speaker.
Greetings were delivered by Povozo Soho representing the Chakhesang Students Union and the Naga Students’ Union Guwahati, while the presidential address was delivered by Mulezo Dzudo.
