The Khensa Senso Mungdang (KSM) today organized a common platform for all the intending candidates for 28 Koridang A/C by-poll here at Khensa village on March 28. The intention of the program was that through this platform it was hoped to guide the votes where the polling is scheduled to be held on the April 9.
At the program, all the six intending candidates shared their views for the election one after the other. Most speakers in their speeches have lauded the efforts in organizing the common platform saying that it shows the political maturity of the Koridang people.
Daochier I Imchen of BJP, who was the first to speak, said that having such a program of common platform is a healthy sign of democracy and expressed his gratitude to the KSM. He also urged the gathering to take the opportunity of this platform to transform the village in particular and the constituency in general to a better one.
The second candidate T. Chalokumba of Indian National Congress spoke about the party, the INC as having a national outlook. He also highlighted that if elected he will judiciously utilize the LADP funds. He therefore solicited the voters of Koridang A/C to cast their votes for him.
The third candidate was I. Abenjang of NPP who spoke on the focus of clean election and urged all to practice free and fair election and thereby bringing about a political revival and resurrection for the constituency.
The fourth candidate was Imchatoba Imchen (IND) who professed working towards youth and women empowerment if elected. Besides focusing on securing a self-sustained economy for the constituency if elected.
The fifth candidate was Maj. (Retd) Toshikaba (IND) who highlighted a number of action plans to be undertaken if he were to become an MLA. He also made a clear-cut vision in terms of development, youth and women empowerment of the constituency if elected.
The sixth and the final candidate was Imtiwapang (IND) who stated his theme for the election as “Change begins with us”. He calls on to change the mindset of each individual first. He also harped on the notion of a developed Koridang towards a developed Nagaland in line with the Vikshit Bharat. Disclosing that he got the symbol of the battery powered torch, he announced to let him be the torch bearer of Koridang as they march towards achieving development in all sectors if elected.
Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by I. Alemmeren Longchar, chairman village council Khensa.
Meanwhile, the village council at the end of the programme declared the announcement to all the candidates that only one ‘camp’ per candidate will be allowed in the village. Further, any kind of intoxicants and banned substances will not be allowed. Violence in any form will not be tolerated among supporters of any candidates. Violators will be penalized as per law.
