Khongka Students’ Union (KSU) has raised serious concern over an unresolved posting error at Government Primary School (GPS) Khongka involving a retired teacher. In a press release, KSU president Thrunso R and general secretary, Lakiumong A claimed that the Department of School Education had transferred H. Khumkiu from GMS Y. Anner to GPS Khongka under the rationalization order dated February 10, 2025—despite his retirement on August 31, 2024.
The union noted that the error disrupted normal functioning at GPS Khongka by replacing the post of M. Tojikhiung with a retired teacher. Although a departmental notification dated February 17, 2025 placed all rationalization orders on hold, KSU stated that many postings continue as usual while the Khongka case remains ignored. Despite raising the issue multiple times, including through the SDEO, Pungro, and a direct submission to the Principal Director, no corrective action has been taken, KSU said. The union emphasized that GPS Khongka has performed strongly in enrollment and community involvement, and such administrative lapses erode public trust.
KSU therefore urged the department to rectify the error immediately and ensure accountability in future decisions to uphold the quality and credibility of the school education system.
