
Khonoma Village Council (KVC)and Khonoma Youth Organisation (KYO) along with Eco Tourism Management Committee (ETMC) have decided to reopen Khonoma “Green village” for tourists (domestic) and visitors with effect from February 1, 2021.
Informing this in a press statement, KVC chairman, Nisamezo Pieru and KYO president, Mhiesilhukho Yalie stated that all COVID-19 SoPs will be strictly enforced and that tourist before his/her entry into the village must fulfil the SoPs issued by the Government Nagaland, Tourism department on December 22, 2020. The order stated that tourist should also produce COVID-19 negative report done not earlier than three days prior to arrival in Nagaland through RT-PCR/TrueNat/CBNAAT.
Visitors/tourists should follow the 3Ws-wear mask, wash hands and watch distance and avoid 3Cs- crowded place, close contact and closed & enclosed spaces, the order stated. It also strictly prohibited collection of flora and fauna, washing of vehicles/cloths in river and anti-social elements and tourists/visitors should leave Khonoma jurisdiction by 5 pm (winter) and 6 pm (summer).
Further, the order stated that visitors/tourists violating the above mentioned SOPs will be penalised by Khonoma Youth Organisation.
